How It All Started: The Boom Family Story
Over 22 years, Tony Cappellano set out with a dream: to create a place where Baby Boomers could gather with family and friends over a great meal. In 2003, he opened the first Boom location on College Street in Toronto, and it quickly became a beloved community spot. Tony’s hands-on approach to hospitality—from clearing tables to making “the greatest cappuccino”—left an indelible mark on everyone he worked with.
When Tony passed away, Boom remained a family-run business determined to continue his legacy. Today, we bring new energy to Boom while staying true to its roots of great food, family, and community.

Key Milestones in Our Journey
Tony Cappellano opens the first Boom location at College Street, Toronto, inspired by a vision to create a welcoming space for Baby Boomers to enjoy great food with family and friends.
Boom expands with additional locations at St. Clair, Eglinton, and Vaughan, bringing the signature Boom experience to more neighborhoods in Toronto.
Boom’s original College Street location closes during the COVID-19 pandemic, marking a difficult but temporary pause in operations.
Boom triumphantly reopens, bringing back its signature food and community spirit to its loyal customers.
